It’s two decades since Lyme Park featured as ‘Pemberley’ in the 1995 BBC television adaptation of Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’. Yet today it is still remembered as the backdrop to the scene when a soaking wet Mr Darcy, (played by Colin Firth), emerged from his swim in the lake to meet a startled Elizabeth Bennet (played by Jennifer Ehle).

As a special tribute to Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, Stockport Art Gallery will be showing landscape photography by Matt Blonc, a painting of Colin Firth by Elena Leonova and one of the original costumes worn by the actor, Colin Firth, as Mr Darcy during this exhibition.
